Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) and global engineering and manufacturing firm Jabil Inc. have signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for developing a proposed joint venture for manufacturing/assembly of AI and data centre equipment in India.
The agreement comes after the companies announced on Tuesday plans to form a strategic alliance and build an AI and data centre infrastructure manufacturing ecosystem in the country in June 2026.
Chairman of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani has emphasized the crucial role of energy intake, installation of large infrastructure, advanced computing systems and precision manufacturing in the development of AI. The proposed venture will give the group a chance to grow from power and host AI infrastructure to build the power systems needed for next-generation computing, he said.
The companies said that the JV would create a manufacturing hub in India to meet local demand and considering exports to other countries. The upheaval would combine Jabil’s engineering and manufacturing skills with the data centres, infrastructure and energy skills of Adani Group.
Jabil CEO Mike Dastoor said the MoU was a “s milestone towards developing a big infotech for the manufacturing of AI infrastructure in India. The long-term technological expertise of Jabil in engineering and manufacturing sector and strengths of Adani in the infrastructure and energy sector could help provide rack level data centre solutions to the major cloud and computing companies in India and abroad, he said.
As investment in AI computing increases, the market opportunity for AI computing-related infrastructure is projected to exceed $3 trillion across the globe over the next seven years, according to the companies.
The proposed business also ties into Adani Group’s plans to build green-powered, hyperscale data centres ready to bring AI technology to the world by spending $100 billion. The manufacturing initiative will complement the group’s presence in the energy, logistics, infrastructure and data centres businesses.
But the joint venture hasn’t been completed. It is to the satisfaction of the companies at this time, subject to the continued existence of definitive agreements and to the relevant approvals and customary conditions.
The potential partnership would deepen India’s significance in the supply chain for the international growth of AI and data centre infrastructure (DCI).
