A significant alarm has arisen within the Jabalpur district administration following the mysterious disappearance of 10 horses from a farmhouse located in Raipura, Panagar. These animals were part of a clandestine group of 57 that was brought from Hyderabad back in May. The operator of the farmhouse has not provided any satisfactory explanation for their vanishing, leading to serious concerns regarding management practices, legality issues, and potential health threats.
According to officials, problems started right after the arrival of the horses. Within a matter of days, 12 had died under suspicious circumstances, raising immediate red flags. As time passed, this number increased to 19 fatalities. The Animal Husbandry Department began suspecting an outbreak of glanders, a highly infectious disease that poses risks to humans as well. Consequently, officials mandated continuous health monitoring for the remaining horses.
Despite regular inspections by department teams at the farmhouse and diligent oversight efforts, 10 horses disappeared without a trace, deepening both the mystery and administrative inquiry into this incident. In response to these events, district authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation.
Officials indicated that there may have been various irregularities during the transportation process for these horses. This includes possible absence of necessary permits and potentially fraudulent or invalid health certificates.
