On Thursday morning, a loud explosion-like noise in the Mahipalpur area of Delhi caused panic among residents and those passing by, just two days after the blast at the Red Fort heightened public paranoia in the city. The sound occurred close to the Radisson Hotel in Mahipalpur and many individuals reported hearing a blast-like sound, which prompted authorities to respond.
The Delhi Fire Services received a distress call at about 9:19 a.m., and three fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the area. Delhi Police cordoned the area and began an extensive search with security personnel to ensure there was not any terror-related incident.
After extensive searches were conducted, and local inquiries were made, officials were able to confirm that there was no suspicious object or activity in the area. The source of the loud sound was identified as a burst rear tyre from a DTC bus headed towards Dhaula Kuan. A security guard in the area had informed authorities about the burst rear tyre of the bus, which actually caused the noise that startled nearby individuals.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel asserted that the situation was completely under control, and encouraged the public to remain calm. Authorities emphasized that regular vigilance is still in place across the capital.
