Madhya Pradesh is experiencing harsh winter weather unexpectedly early in November, with many cities now experiencing a cold wave. The Balaghat and Anuppur districts have been under cold day conditions for the last two days, while Rajgarh’s temperature has dropped to 7°C. The Meteorological Department states that the cold wave is expected to be present for the next four days across many locations in the state.

The sudden drop in temperatures has been noted due to early snowfall in the hill states of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, combined with an active Western Disturbance over the Himalayan region which arrived more than a week ahead of time. The chill has strengthened across central India, especially in Madhya Pradesh.

A cold wave alert has been issued for Bhopal, Indore, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Sehore, Seoni, Satna, Niwari, Chhatarpur, Panna, Tikamgarh, Umaria, and Maihar.

Night temperatures have fallen quickly and dangerously low, with a total of nine cities registering temperatures below 10°C on Tuesday and Wednesday. Rajgarh’s temperature was noted as 7°C, with the remote cities Indore (8.2°C), Bhopal (8.4°C), Umaria (8.6°C), and Rewa (9°C) closely following. Other cities like Chhindwara, Gwalior, Jabalpur, and Ujjain have also shown near-freezing conditions and overall it appears winter has arrived early and firmly to Madhya Pradesh.
