Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is experiencing an unprecedented cold wave and early onset of winter, with November temperatures breaking significant long-term records across major cities. Indore registered its coldest November night in 25 years, while the state capital, Bhopal, recorded its second lowest November temperature in a decade.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Cold Wave Warning for today, Monday, affecting approximately 20 districts across the state, including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Rajgarh, and Gwalior.
According to the Meteorological Department, all of Madhya Pradesh is shivering due to icy winds blowing from the mountains. Snowfall is occurring in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, causing northern winds to blow directly into Madhya Pradesh. Today, Monday, a cold wave alert has been issued for Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Shahdol, Shajapur, Sehore, Satna, Agar-Malwa, Rajgarh, Dewas, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Rewa, Panna, Umaria, Katni, Maihar, and Mauganj.
If we talk about Saturday-Sunday night, then there was a record cold in many cities. The mercury dropped below 10 degrees. In Indore, the mercury was 7 degrees in November. It has never been so cold here in November in the last 25 years. In Bhopal, the record of last 10 years was broken. Here, the minimum temperature was 8 degrees, which is the lowest since 2015. Similarly, in Rajgarh also the mercury was also recorded at 7 degrees. For the fourth consecutive night, the mercury was the lowest in Rajgarh. The temperature in Jabalpur, Ujjain and Gwalior also dropped. The temperatures were recorded at 9.8 degrees in Jabalpur, 10.5 degrees in Ujjain, and 10.7 degrees in Gwalior.
