Bihar Elections: Voting for the first phase of the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections concluded on November 6th. A record 64.66 percent cast their votes in 121 seats across 18 districts. 64.46% voter turnout is a record. In the first phase of the 2020 elections, only 55.68% voting took place.
This represents an increase of approximately eight and a half percent from the previous election. If similar voting occurs in the second and final phases of 122 seats, it could completely change the political landscape of Bihar. At least that’s what the data suggests. This is why the record turnout in the first phase of the Bihar elections has increased Nitish Kumar’s tension. If we look at the current pattern, whenever the voting percentage has increased by more than five percent, the government in Bihar has changed hands.
According to Election Commission data, 64.66 percent voter turnout was recorded in the first phase of the Bihar elections. It’s also important to note that voter turnout has a direct impact on election results. If we look at the pattern, whenever voter turnout has increased by more than 5 percent, the government has changed.
The results of the 17 assembly elections held since independence clearly show that whenever voter turnout in Bihar increased or decreased by more than 5%, it not only changed the power in the state but also the political landscape.
