Suparn Varma’s courtroom drama film, Haq, is one of the most anticipated movies of 2025. Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi’s film is inspired by the 1985 Shah Bano case.
Haq screening was held tonight (November 5) at Andheri, where several celebrities from Bollywood and TV came to watch the Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam-starrer. Ekta Kapoor came to watch the film with Ankita Lokhande and Vicky Jain. The trio look fabulous together.
Written by Reshu Nath, the movie Haq is produced by Vishal Gurnani, Juhi Parekh Mehta and Harman Baweja under the banners of Junglee Pictures in association with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios. The highly anticipated courtroom drama Haq, starring Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi, is set to hit theatres on November 7, 2025.Haq is inspired by the 1985 legal battle involving Shah Bano Begum.
The story follows a woman who refuses to quietly accept injustice after being abandoned and denied alimony. Yami’s character, Shazia Bano, knocks on court doors to fight against the inequalities of the rules of Teen Talak, but also wins the case, making it one of a kind in the history of Indian jurisdiction. She paved paths for Muslim women to come forward and ask for their rights.
Yami Gautam on embracing method acting for HaqDuring our discussion, Yami Gautam provided insights into her rigorous preparation for her new role, mentioning that she dedicated a month to method acting to fully inhabit the character. However, she was quick to dismiss any exaggerated portrayals of her technique, stating, “I can’t really categorize my process as method acting or anything similar.
Sometimes, these descriptions get blown out of proportion in promotional language, but I assure you, a significant amount of effort went into developing and defining this character. At times, the process is so introspective that I become immersed in it, and honestly, I find it difficult to articulate or make it sound like I exerted so much effort.”
