Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted the World Cup-winning squad, the support staff, and senior BCCI officials at his official residence on Wednesday evening. The interaction came after the Prime Minister’s Office formally invited the board to bring the Champions to Lok Kalyan Marg.

Prime Minister Modi revisited some of Indian women’s cricket memorable fielding moments during the meeting. He mentioned Harleen Deol’s iconic catch from 2021 against England, a moment he had praised on social media at the time. PM Modi also spoke about Harmanpreet Kaur pocketing the ball after the 2025 World Cup final, to which she replied, “I was lucky the ball came to me, so I kept it.” The team shared a laugh as Modi applauded their spirit and presence of mind on the field.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned Deepti Sharma’s Instagram post with “Jai Shri Ram” and her tattoo of Lord Hanuman, asking about its significance. Deepti replied that her faith gives her strength and positivity, especially during high-pressure moments in matches. The lighthearted conversation brought smiles all around, with the Prime Minister appreciating how faith and mental strength often guide athletes through tough situations.
