Emergency Preps for Cyclone Montha

Emergency preparations are taking pace in Andhra Pradesh where Indian Army and NDRF teams are on standby. In Vijayawada and Guntur, panic buying emptied milk stocks and vegetable stalls. Guntur Municipal Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu has directed town planning officials to remove all encroachments on footpaths along major city roads on a war footing and to immediately clear and transport the debris

He emphasized that the encroachments blocking rainwater flow must be cleared to ensure flow of water into the city’s drainage system without stagnation on roads.
