On Monday, the Assam Police announced that it had summoned a group of highly reputed representatives of the civil society who could give them an update on the death investigation of the famous singer Zubeen Garg, which confirmed the post-mortem results as well. But the authorities clarified that the final post-mortem report will not be released to the public.
Munna Prasad Gupta, Special DGP of the CID, explained to the media that the post-mortem report is no longer a public document. Saying that this is our last ever post-mortem report would be wrong. Our society has asked some of the most prominent members of the civil society to come tomorrow at 4 pm. We shall not inform them of anything but what we are telling you. No doubt about the publicity of the report, said Gupta.
He made no disclosure of the character of the updates to be distributed, or of the names of the people invited. Later, the officials mentioned that the people invited are the editors of major TV channels and newspapers, and one or two members of the family of Garg. The Policeman briefing will be held at the Police guest house in Ulubari. One of the invited editors confirmed the invitation but on anonymity basis.
Gupta said that the post-mortem report will be presented to the court with the court and the viscera analysis. Viscera and the final post-mortem report of GMCH have been given to us after being approved by a team of experts. Now we shall fulfill the probe according to the law, he added.
On September 19, Zubeen Garg was found dead in mysterious conditions in Singapore as he swam in the sea. This was the 4th edition of the North East India Festival, and he was present. After his demise, a post-mortem was first done in Singapore.
