Drone intrusion incidents have once again started increasing in areas along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir. This is the fourth time this month that a suspected Pakistani drone has been spotted hovering over Indian territory. Officials said that drone activity was observed near the international border in the RS Pura sector of Jammu district at around 7 pm on Saturday evening. Following this, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel immediately swung into action and launched a massive search operation in the area.

The BSF suspects that Pakistan may have used this drone to drop a consignment of weapons or narcotics into Indian territory. Officials say the possibility of an airborne delivery cannot be ruled out, so the area is being thoroughly searched.

BSF officials suspect a suspected Pakistani drone may have attempted to drop a consignment of weapons or narcotics from across the border. “A search operation is underway in the area to rule out any possible airdrop of weapons or narcotics,” an official said. “We are working to arrive at a definitive conclusion.”

There were three more infiltrations this month.

  • September 16: After noticing suspicious activity, the BSF launched a search operation and recovered an AK-series assault rifle and a magazine from beyond the fence.
  • September 13: State police found a drone with a thermal payload on the outskirts of Akhnoor.
  • September 6: A Pakistani drone was spotted over an army cantonment in Samba district, prompting security forces to launch a search operation.

Growing concern

These frequent incidents have raised concerns among security agencies. Officials believe that Pakistan has intensified efforts to activate arms and drug smuggling networks into India using drones. The BSF has intensified patrols and surveillance along the border.
