The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has proven that public health and safety are paramount, even in the most challenging of times. While 51,000 people benefited from health camps in flood-affected areas on September 16th, this number increased to an unprecedented 1.5 lakh just one day later. This rapid response is a testament to the Mann government’s understanding of the gravity of the situation and its immediate response to the situation. This achievement has reassured affected families that the government stands with them at all times.
Meanwhile, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann requested NRI’s to contribute for the relief of the floods.
Chief Minister Mann issued clear instructions to the Health and Family Welfare Department that under no circumstances should affected families be deprived of health services. He stated that the floods have not only affected homes and farms, but also increased health risks manifold. Therefore, the government’s priority is to ensure that no citizen is left without medical care. As a result of these government efforts, thousands of people are receiving timely relief and treatment, significantly reducing the risk of disease spread.
The Mann government launched a special health campaign on September 14th. The primary objective of this campaign was to quickly control potential post-flood illnesses, provide primary health care at the doorsteps of affected people, and provide protection, especially to the elderly, pregnant women, and young children. The Chief Minister also ensured that state-level plans were not confined to paper but were swiftly implemented in every village. This is why a record-breaking number of people benefited from the health camps in such a short time.
