Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge, a Congress leader, made a sharp attack on the BJP-led NDA government on Saturday, after a recent statement was issued by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat about leadership and age. Kharge pointed out the words to whom the shots were called in a clear indication of the corporate realities between the parties in the dispensation of power with an indirect reference to who orchestrates the statement that comes with a connotation.
The political buzz created by Bhagwat who stated that leaders must participate after the age of 75 has been trending and this is because the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will reach this age in September. Bhagwat did not mention any names, but his statement is currently being interpreted by many people as a veiled recommendation against higher-ranking political leaders, and even Prime Minister himself. Interestingly, Modi had previously supported the proposal of age limit on active politicians, and the implication of the comment thus made a point.
In an earlier statement, Kharge reminded the people of what Modi had said on the same issue. We do not see the interest of the age of the Prime Minister but rather his contribution to the country. That is why now many are wondering whether he will be pushed to the margdarshak mandal because earlier he had said that 75 should be the cut-off age in politics, he told reporters.
To the discussion, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera termed the remarks given by Bhagwat as being good news to the country adding that Modi and Bhagwat now both are 75 in September. The two have profoundly influenced the nationhood. Khera said their resignation will be a good thing to India and its Constitution.
The remarks have also led to the speculations of leadership succession in the BJP and its ideological parent RSS, where the tensions have shown to be present under the surface, as the party peeks into its future of leadership.
