SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made its first significant arrests in connection with the horrific April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, apprehending two individuals for allegedly providing sanctuary and logistical support to the three Pakistani terrorists responsible for the massacre. The arrests, announced by NIA officials on Sunday, come precisely two months after the audacious strike that claimed 26 lives and injured 16, further ratcheting up tensions between India and Pakistan.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar from Batkote, Pahalgam, and Bashir Ahmad Jothar from Hill Park, Pahalgam. According to the NIA, the duo stands accused of harboring the Pakistani terrorists and facilitating their movements and sustenance in the lead-up to and aftermath of the attack.

“In a major breakthrough in the Pahalgam terror attack case, the NIA has arrested two men for harbouring the terrorists who had carried out the horrendous attack that killed 26 innocent tourists and grievously injured 16 others,” a statement released by the anti-terror probe agency confirmed.

The Pahalgam attack sent shockwaves across the region and beyond, drawing widespread condemnation. The involvement of Pakistani terrorists, as confirmed by investigations, has added another layer of complexity to the already strained diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan.

The NIA’s diligent investigation has slowly unraveled the network that supported the perpetrators. These arrests are crucial as they are expected to shed more light on the broader conspiracy, including how the terrorists infiltrated the region, their local contacts, and the planning behind the audacious assault on innocent tourists. The agency continues its relentless efforts to dismantle the entire terror ecosystem and bring all those involved to justice.
