Jalandhar: As many as 21,000 yoga enthusiasts participated in a state-level ‘CM Di Yogshala’ event held at the PAP Ground in Jalandhar on Thursday. Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Mann was expected to be present at the event, but his visit was cancelled at the eleventh hour due to unavoidable circumstances. Health minister Dr Balbir Singh was the chief guest on the occasion.

Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh encouraged citizens to incorporate yoga into their daily routines, emphasizing its role in building a healthier state. Addressing a large gathering at an event where Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was notably absent, Dr. Balbir stated, “The CM has a lot of engagements and unavoidable circumstances, which is why he couldn’t be here today.”

The minister expressed his delight at the enthusiastic participation from all segments of society, calling it “heartening.” He highlighted the “CM di Yogshala” initiative as a crucial step towards a more vibrant Punjab.

Joined by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal and Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur, Dr. Balbir noted that the initiative was launched two years ago from Jalandhar under CM Mann’s leadership. He proudly announced that approximately 3,200 yoga classes are now conducted daily across the state, benefiting nearly one lakh people. With trained yoga instructors leading these sessions, the minister reiterated his appeal for everyone to embrace yoga as an “inseparable part of their lives” for improved health and fitness, ultimately contributing to a truly healthy Punjab.
