After the tragic stampede at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium following the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL win, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that the government will change the stadium to another location. Officials are working on the move as a lasting way to make sure such accidents do not occur again.
According to Siddaramaiah, he is deeply affected by the incident and stressed that it has had a strong impact on the administration of the state as well. Any government should ensure that something like this does not happen. This thing has deeply affected me and made the entire government feel sad, he said.
Public concerns were answered when the Chief Minister confirmed that five police officers have been hit with suspension. Also, the state’s intelligence official and the political secretary working with the Chief Minister have been replaced. Action was taken promptly against those who are charged with this case, he said.
Siddaramaiah argued that there was no evidence of administrative failure. There is no proof that the government has acted wrongly. “What has happened is very sad. However, there were no mistakes in the process. The government is handling the issue legally by going after the guilty, and there is no reason for the government to feel embarrassed.”
“Because of criticism from opposition groups BJP and JDS, Siddaramaiah wondered if their demands were fair. Did the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh step down after the Kumbh Mela, when many lives were lost? How is it possible that our government faces lower standards of accountability?” He expressed his views by pointing out that double standards exist in politics.
In the state’s mourning, many are talking about moving the stadium somewhere safer and more spacious to stop such tragedies from occurring again.
