Lucknow: Indian cricketer Rinku Singh got engaged to Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj in a ceremony held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday. Sharing the news on Instagram, the cricketer and the politician wrote, “This day has been in our hearts for so long — almost three years — and the wait was worth every second. Engaged — with full hearts and a forever to go.”
MP Priya Saroj image were shared on her official account on X (formerly known as Twitter) and captioned it as, “This day has been in our hearts for so long – almost three years – and the wait was worth every second”.
The engagement, held at a hotel in the capital city, was attended by top SP leaders, including party president and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and his wife, MP Dimple Yadav.
Other notable attendees included senior politicians Rajeev Shukla, Jaya Bachchan, Shivpal Yadav, Ramgopal Yadav, and cricketer Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Speaking to the media after the event, SP MP Awadhesh Prasad offered his congratulations to the couple and expressed his hopes for a happy future together.
Tufani Saroj, Priya Saroj’s father and SP MLA from the Kerakat assembly constituency, mentioned that the celebrations commenced on Saturday night. Family sources revealed that the engagement featured a solely vegetarian menu.
