Amritsar: The 41st anniversary of Operation Blue Star is being observed in Amritsar today, June 6. Ardaas was held at Akal Takht Sahib in the morning. Acting Jathedar of Akal Takht Kuldeep Singh Gargaj gave a message to the community during the Ardaas itself to avoid controversy. However, this message is usually given after the Ardaas.
Officiating Jathedar of Akal Takht Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, while reading ‘ardas’ , said all Sikh outfits should unitedly apply untiring efforts for the release of ‘Bandhi Singhs’ .
Bandi Singhs are those Sikh prisoners, who parties like Shiromani Akali Dal and other Sikh bodies claim, were in jails even after completion of their sentences.
In fact, a few days ago, Damdami Taksal chief Harnam Singh Khalsa had said that Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargaj is not recognized by Sikh Sangats and Sikh organizations. Jathedar Gargaj has no right to give a message to the community, and if he does so, he will be opposed. Therefore, to avoid controversy, Jathedar Gargaj gave a message to the community during Ardaas itself.
In view of the 41st anniversary of Operation Blue Star, the police have made tight security arrangements in Amritsar. The police force is fully alert to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the city.
