The Karnataka government, which is facing criticism from all sides in the stampede case at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, has now taken a big action. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced in a press conference that he has also ordered the arrest of representatives of RCB, DNA Networks and KSCA responsible in the case.
He also took action at the administrative level and suspended the Bangalore Police Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, DCP Central, ACP and Cubbon Park Police Station Inspector. He also announced that the case will be investigated by retired High Court Judge John Michael D’Cunha.

The Chief Minister said, “This incident should not have happened, but unfortunately it did. We stand with the victim families with full sympathy.” He further said that all these decisions have been taken after deep deliberation, discussions with police officials and ministers, so that the culprits are not spared.

The government has taken strict action in view of the major lapse of the police department. Bangalore Police Commissioner, Additional Commissioner of Police, DCP Central Division, ACP (Stadium Incharge), Cubbon Park Police Station Inspector, Station House Master and Station House Officer have been suspended with immediate effect. This step has been taken keeping in mind the negligence of the police and their failure to control the crowd during the stampede.

In the complaint, CM Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and Karnataka Cricket Board have been accused of negligence.
