Retired Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary believes Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s run in IPL 2025 is like the way India won the 2011 World Cup led by MS Dhoni. In an impassioned remark on a cricket channel, Tiwary shared that the mindset pushing RCB this season is similar to the one that led India’s World Cup win for Sachin Tendulkar—and the attention is now on Virat Kohli.

After the Lucknow Super Giants beat the Gujarat Titans, RCB’s hopes of reaching the playoffs have improved greatly because they now sit second in the points table. If RCB is successful against SunRisers Hyderabad in Lucknow on Friday, they are almost certain to end up in the top two and earn the right to win a place in the final twice.

Things are going strongly in RCB’s direction. It’s almost as if everything in the universe is trying to help them win the IPL for the first time. This is something no one other than Virat Kohli deserves, Tiwary added. Just like the whole country wanted to give Sachin the World Cup, everyone this year wants to back Virat in winning the IPL, he added.

Tiwary told the side to back their senior batter, suggesting Kohli should shoulder the load for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Throughout his IPL career, Kohli has stayed with RCB because he is the team’s top run scorer.

Having RCB lift the trophy this season would be a great way to honour Kohli’s support for the team and his country, suggested Tiwary.
