Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s stunning presence at the 78th Cannes Film Festival has made the internet sit up and notice again. In a refined all-white saree by Manish Malhotra and plenty of striking red gems, Aishwarya made yet another statement on the red carpet. Her graceful tail of her saree paired with the red touch of sindoor on her forehead made her look just as Paro did in Devdas. Social media praise piled on, describing her as timeless, royal and the image of classic Indian beauty.

Aishwarya was at the premiere for The History of Sound as the brand ambassador for L’Oreal. Her fashion choice caused both fashion commentators and fans to go crazy. Diet Sabya wrote on Instagram, “OH MY GOSH, SHE BRING THE MARTINEZ TO A COMPLETE STOP LMAO. Nobody bothered to look away. Servers knocked the food down. He stopped talking for a while in the middle of his bubble-making. Archival Gaultier models made the girls turn in their seats. The girls and gay men all carried this secret.”

India is making a big impact at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Having Payal Kapadia on the jury of the main competition is a great moment for Indian cinema. Meanwhile, famous personalities Sharmila Tagore and Simi Garewal were there at the world premiere of Aranyer Din Ratri’s new version, creating a bit of old-fashioned charm.

Under the Un Certain Regard segment, respected director Neeraj Ghaywan shared his film Homebound. He walked the carpet alongside Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Kapoor and Vishal Jethwa, in addition to producer Karan Johar, displaying current Indian cinema at the event.
