In view of the approaching playoffs and the possible absence of some foreign players, the Mumbai Indians have improved their squad. The franchise reported that England’s Jonny Bairstow, Richard Gleeson, and white-ball captain Charith Asalanka from Sri Lanka will replace the departing members for the national team commitments.
At the end of the league stage, the MI squad may lose three of its best players. Will Jacks has made it onto the England white-ball team and Ryan Rickelton and Corbin Bosch from South Africa are expected to travel to England for the ICC World Test Championship final. With their cricket heroes leaving the team, MI was quick to make moves that filled in the important gaps in their squad.
Adam and Asalanka give the batting a strong and flexible presence. Because both players can be top scorers, MI can keep its place at the top even after Rickelton’s departure, as he had a fantastic year. Rickelton, who plays both wicketkeeping and batting, has scored a total of 362 runs in 12 games, averaging 153 per innings. Given his T20 success, Bairstow might play as the wicketkeeper and open the innings.
Following Gleeson’s inclusion, Reece Topley has another fast-bowling option aside from him. Because of this, MI now has enough power in their bowling attack for the playoffs.
If Jacks is not available, Mumbai Indians might decide to move Tilak Varma up the batting order. His usual position for India in T20Is is no. 3, yet for MI, he mainly plays in the middle order.
