Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will welcome Delhi Capitals (DC) to play at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday in a matchup that significantly impacts the IPL 2025 playoff qualification. The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League approaches its final stage, where every match outcome holds substantial value for competing sides, including the two playing teams.

Axar Patel led Delhi Capitals during his debut captaincy in a flawlessly consistent beginning that yielded five consecutive wins, followed by their triumph over SRH by seven wickets in Visakhapatnam. The match victory came after Mitchell Starc took five wickets for 35 runs while Faf du Plessis scored his half-century in just 27 balls. Since their initial success, the Capitals have suffered four losses within their last five matches. The most recent loss has placed them in the fifth position with twelve points collected from their ten matches.

In Ahmedabad, SRH faced defeat as Gujarat Titans delivered a 38-run victory, which puts them at risk of missing the playoffs. Sunrisers Hyderabad, under Pat Cummins, face ninth place and have secured only six points through ten matches.

A Monday victory will allow Sunrisers Hyderabad to move into the eighth position and stay in playoff contention by surpassing Rajasthan Royals in the standings. The match outcome neither enhances nor harms DC’s current fifth-place ranking while they continue their standing position.

The outcome of DC’s matchup has the potential to end SRH’s season in the playoffs because it could knock them out of playoff eligibility. The match outcome would push DC to the same points total as fourth-placed Gujarat Titans (14), although the necessary margin needed for an actual point position swap remains extremely high.
