New Delhi. After the Pahalgam terror attack, India imposed a ban on trade with Pakistan. This is expected to increase the prices of some commodities, as these items are imported from Pakistan. Although India does not have much dependence on Pakistan for imports, it may still have an impact on these particular commodities.
- Sendha namak, also known as pink Himalayan rock salt, was imported from the Khewra mines in Pakistan. It is popular for fasting and Ayurvedic uses. Its prices may increase due to the ban.
- Multani mitti, used for skin care, was also imported from Pakistan. Its availability may reduce and prices may increase.
- Cotton for the textile industry in India was imported from Pakistan. Although cotton is produced in India, temporary shortages in supply can cause price fluctuations.
- Certain types of cement, such as Binani Cement, were imported from Pakistan. Their prices may increase due to the ban.
- Pishawari chappals and Lahore kurtas imported from Pakistan are popular in India. Their supply shortage may increase the prices.
On the night of April 26-27, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control in the areas opposite Tutmari Gali and Rampur Sectors. Army Sources said, “Our own troops responded effectively with appropriate small arms fire.”
As global condemnation mounts, the Lashkar-e-Taiba’s (LeT) front, The Resistance Front (TRF), on Saturday (April 26, 2025), denied its involvement in the Pahalgam terror attack, which left 26 civilians dead, and termed the previous online claim as a breach. “We unequivocally deny any involvement in the Pahalgam incident. Any attribution of this act to TRF is false, hasty, and part of an orchestrated campaign to malign the Kashmiri resistance,” a TRF spokesman said, in a purported claim made on social media platforms.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has begun the process of formally taking over the Pahalgam terror attack case, in which 26 civilians were shot dead on Tuesday (April 22, 2025), following orders from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
The NIA said that its teams, which have been camping at the terror attack site since Wednesday (April 23, 2025), have intensified the search for evidence.
