The air quality in the national capital deteriorated to the higher end of the “very poor” category amid the cold wave. The AQI was recorded at 349 on Monday at 6 a.m., according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 11.4 degrees Celsius, as noted by India Meteorological Department.

The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are in the range of 23 to 26 degrees Celsius and 8 to 9 degrees Celsius respectively. Delhi is likely to witness thunderstorms and rain on January 22 and January 23 with fog on the rest of the days of the week.

The AQI in several parts of Delhi is: Anand Vihar (407), Vivek Vihar (390), Wazirpur (381), Ashok Vihar (366), Chandni Chowk (347), Dwarka-Sector 8 (379), Jahangirpuri (373), ITO (370), Lodhi Road (360), Najafgarh (310), R K Puram (380), Rohini (370), Shadipur (331).

The trains running late include Nauchandi Express (14241), Vaishali Express (12553), Kir Asr Express (15707), S Kranti Sup Express (12393), Anvt Garib Rath (22409) and Kashi Vishwanath Express (15127).

To minimize inconvenience caused by fog related train delays, Railways has implemented the following facilities at the New Delhi Railway Station to ensure a hassle-free journey for all. These measures are as follows:

  1. Regular updates and SMS notifications to keep passengers informed of their train schedules.

    2. Help desks have been set up on Platform 1 to adress queries and offer assistance.

    3. Free winter resting facilities are available at Platforms 1 & 16, besides AC, sleeper, and ladies’ waiting halls already available.

    4. Eligible passengers can claim refunds for delays as per the rules.

    5. Additional ticket counters have been set up to facilitate smoother services.

    The Railways has advised passengers to check the latest train schedules before embarking on their journey. Morning visuals from many parts of the national capital showed fog blanketing those areas. Despite this, Republic Day parade rehearsals continue at Kartavya Path.
