New Delhi: Several Delhi schools received bomb threat on Tuesday. This is the fifth such incident in the nation’s capital in nine days and the second this week. An official from the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) stated that Crescent Public School in the Saraswati Vihar area of northwest Delhi had received a call regarding a bomb threat.
According to the officials, despite a search by the local police, fire department, bomb-detecting team, and dog squad, nothing unusual has been discovered thus far. According to the official, identical threat emails have been sent to a few more institutions, and investigations are still underway.
However, after anti-pollution measures were brought back under Stage 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), schools in Delhi-NCR shifted to a hybrid form of teaching on Tuesday. Classes for students in grades 6–9 and 11 in Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, and Gautam Buddh Nagar must run in a hybrid mode (online and physical) under Stage 4 of the updated GRAP schedule, while students in classes 10 and 12 must attend classes in person.
A slew of bomb threats
In recent weeks, schools in the nation’s capital have been receiving frequent emails threatening them with bombs. A similar email was sent on December 14 to eight schools, including the same DPS RK Puram, threatening to use “bomb vests” to carry out an explosion.
On December 13, about 30 schools were emailed with bomb threats. As a result, their property was searched by multiple agencies. Similar emails were sent to at least 44 schools on December 9. The Delhi Police Special Cell opened an inquiry and filed a formal complaint in response to the threat mail.
