Bhopal: 121 government offices and residences, including starred bungalows, will be deoccupied in a major redevelopment move in the Professor’s Colony of Bhopal, which is in the capital city of Madhya Pradesh. This particular program is one among a large scale program to redevelop the area for putting up new Collectorate buildings, as there is a vast open plot of about 13 acres in this colony. It will also involve the erection of modern government residential quarters near the Collectorate.
Different orders by the state government as well as possibilities to get new accommodation and other conditions, have been provided to guarantee a smooth transition. Notably, key establishments which include CBI offices connected with Vyapam scam B1, B8, and B10, Geetanjali hostel, and Sain Mandir buildings, are likely to be empty. Other offices that would be shifted include Circuit House, Regional Directorate of Health Services, Malaria Control Office, and the office of the Chief Engineer for Chambal and Betwa areas.
This gigantic of reestablishment project is projecting ₹500 crore outlay to reform the administrative and civil structure of Bhopal. The new Collectorate building, therefore fulfills another functional requirement of bringing together in one place a majority of the functions of the government system. Further, it responds to the government’s comprehensive plan for the redevelopment of urban territories and the efficient use of prime urban land.
The plan also brought a commitment to better structures and a modern appearance, which is quite far from the current construction. According to the government’s plans, by centralizing several major offices, the departments’ cooperation will improve, and the public will receive improved services.
It has become a new paradigm in the history of Bhopal and this redevelopment has helped to update the administrative structure of the city, as well as maintain its importance as an administrative center.
