Prayagraj. In the case of Shahi Jama Masjid of Sambhal, the Hindu side has filed a caveat in the Allahabad High Court, demanding that they be heard before issuing any order and that the court give them a chance to present their side before passing any verdict.
While hearing the Sambhal case, the Supreme Court has asked the Muslim side to go to the Allahabad High Court. In such a situation, the Muslim side can soon file its petition in the Allahabad High Court. It is believed that after the petition is filed, the court will now also hear the side of those who filed the caveat.
Earlier on Friday, the Supreme Court heard a plea filed by the management committee of Sambhal’s Shahi Jama Masjid, challenging the November 19 order of a district court that directed a survey of the Mughal-era mosque. UP governor Anandiben Patel has constituted a 3-member judicial inquiry commission to probe the stone-pelting incident in Sambhal.
Four people died and scores, including police personnel, were injured in Sambhal after a confrontation erupted over a court-ordered survey of the city’s Shahi Jama Masjid in the Kot Garvi area, following a petition claiming that a Harihar temple once stood at the site.
In a notification issued on November 28, the Governor emphasised the necessity of conducting a “thorough inquiry to serve the public interest and ensure transparency”.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel has constituted a three-member Judicial Inquiry Commission to be headed by Justice Devendra Kumar Arora (retired), Allahabad high court, to probe the stone-pelting incident in Sambhal, ensuring transparency and quality of inquiry. According to the order, the other two members of the commission are retired IAS Amit Mohan Prasad and Retired IPS Arvind Kumar Jain.
