Shiv Sena (UGT) boss Uddhav Thackeray declared his party’s election platform on Thursday, pegging major developmental policies for Maharashtra and forming the International Finance Centre (IFC) at Dharavi.
Thackeray also said that there are no young people here and that this initiative is to increase employment opportunities for youths. The manifesto christened “Vachan Nama,” is also assured to restore the Old Pension Scheme for the government’s employees with a guarantee for the state’s workforce.
The decision was made at Matoshree, Thackeray’s residence, where party leaders Subhash Desai and Anil Parab were present. He also disclosed that the MVA partners would come out with their joint common minimum program by the coming weekend.
Among all, the most appealing to the masses of Thackeray’s campaign promises is that he will abandon Dharavi’s redevelopment project, which was awarded to the Adani Group. Speaking in the assembly, the Leader of Shiv Sena (UBT) said that the biggest issue for the youth is employment, as the unemployment rate is increasing.
He also assured that as a place comprising an informal economy with thousands of different workers, Dharavi will benefit from the creation of the IFC through employment in the financial and service industries.
The two main proposed policies are that apart from the Dharavi finance hub, the manifesto promises to scrap a GO that enables cluster development in Mumbai’s fishing villages, the Koliwadas. He quelled that such redevelopment in these areas would consult with the fishing communities to establish their needs and rights.
Thackeray also released ‘five guarantees’ earlier, which has now become part of the party’s election promises. These are free education to male students, cheap accommodation to Marathi at the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, women police stations for women, assurance of price for farmers crops, assurance of price of various day-to-day consumable goods such as sugar, pulses, oil, wheat and rice.
