The number of deaths caused by consumption has already reached 24 in Bihar’s Saran and Siwan districts, and it has been underlined that this number can go up as check goes on. The police authorities have recorded their statement about the statement that the situation is still stabilized because many people are still grappling with the outcomes of the poisonous alcohol.
The police are continuing their search for the root cause of the smuggling of the dreaded substance that has led to the unruly death of youths in the Siwan district, as described by Siwan Superintendent Of Police Amitesh Kumar. In a major shake-up, the police station officer of the Bhagwanpur Haat police station, ASI Niraj Mishra and the chowkidar posted there have been suspended for their involvement in the smuggling and sale of the contraband liquor within the area. Kumar said, “I have been informed about the deaths and we are in the process of trying to trace the trail of the fake liquor consignment in the region.”
Saran District Magistrate Mukul Kumar Gupta said that 38 people are now sick, and most of them have been admitted to Sadar Hospital. He also fired show cause notices to excise officials, insisting that their reasons would be construed as a case of departmental action inadequate. Gupta also said that legal proceedings are being taken against Bhagwanpur SHO and Prohibition Assistant Sub-Inspector.
Speaking to the media, the Civil Surgeon of Siwan, Dr Shrinivas Prasad, said that 25 people, out of which two are women, were admitted to Sadar Hospital, and 4 others were referred to Patna Medical College & Hospital. To address the worsening situation, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted, three accused have been nabbed, and a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against Eight people.
People have come out onto the streets in protest as they remain impatient, and in their opinion, drinking, smuggling and sale of liquor continue.
