Korba: During this festive period, cases of food adulteration, which have led to the intervention of the Food and Drug Administration Department, have arisen. In response, teams conducted raids on several shops, including rival firms like JioMart, and took samples of various food products. About this, in its inspections, JioMart’s organic gram flour, as well as food samples from other shops, were found to be below the standard test. The department has not only detected these offenders, but it is also making arrangements to counterattack them soon.
Since food purchases go up during the festive season, this is mostly associated with a corresponding rise in the rate of food adulteration. The complaints stem from not only large, popular brands of food products but also smaller grocery/sweet shops that have been selling food products that may be resented as adulterated. Considering these factors seriously, the Food and Drug Administration has been quite proactively involved in inspections and sample analysis of food products, including sweets, flour, gram flour, refined flour, and cooking oil.
The official of the Food and Drug Administration Department, Vikas Bhagat, confirmed that many test reports of the samples have been returned recently. Out of all the samples, the organic gram flour of JioMart and samples from some of the other stores that have been tested were below par. The department has now proceeded to undertake other necessary actions against the culprits.
This is not only a matter of adulteration. Some of the factories in the city are operating in an uncontrolled manner, producing spiced mixtures (mixtures) inappropriately but with no proper guidelines. Also, unauthorized cafes are lending operations in the city as well as in tourist areas, which present health problems for consumers. The experts say that the administration also has to concentrate on those violations to safeguard the people during the festive season.
The Food and Drug Administration vowed to fight food fraud and provide the general public and tourists with delicious and sanitary food.
