Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, led by engineers from the public works department, surveyed the national capital’s roads on Monday, given the worsening state. Responding to this, she said that residents should not bother about potholes as there won’t be a single pothole on the roads during Diwali this year. Atishi later observed poor infrastructure during her inspection of NSIC Okhla, Modi Mill flyover, Chirag Dilli, Tughlakabad, Mathura Road Ashram Chowk, and the underpass. These roads, however, have been riddled with potholes; she mentioned that this constituted an aversive inconvenience for road users and urged the officials to get repair work.

“We are with Arvind Kejriwal that all Delhititis should have pothole-free roads by Diwali,” Atishi remarked after the inspection, pointing out that the government is keen on better roads.

Similarly, Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia too undertook a road trip in East Delhi. On the social network X, Sisodia claimed that the BJP had fabricated charges against him and the leader of the AAP, Kejriwal, to counteract the actions of the government headed by the AAP that is striving to improve people’s quality of life. He said these political acts have contributed to worsening the already bad roads in the capital.

Other ministers, including Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Imran Hussain, and Mukesh Ahlawat, also went to road checks in different districts. Rai focused on incipient clusters in northeast Delhi, and Gahlot estimated areas in west and southwest Delhi. Hussain narrowed down his monitoring scope to New Delhi and central Districts, while Ahlawat reviewed the number of roads in the north and northwest Districts.

The situation of the determinant road condition of the whole city was discussed by Atishi in a Sunday meeting; she insisted on the evaluation by the weak ministers of specifically chosen areas that have bad roads to compile a list of roads requiring repair. Subsequent to these, repair works are expected to get underway, and the wall’s aim is to have no potholes on the roads by October of this year.
