Mumbai: The primary accused in the Mumbai BMW hit-and-run case, Mihir Shah, the son of Shiv Sena politician Rajesh Shah, was present as the Mumbai police on Thursday recreated the events from CJ House in Worli to Sea Link. During their interrogation, the police also forced Shah and Rajrishi Bidawat, his driver, to sit next to each other. At this point, the two defendants admitted to the crime.
As per the police report, Shah acknowledged that he was driving the car during the crash that claimed the life of 45-year-old Kaveri Nakhwa, the pillion rider, and injured her husband Pradeep, who was driving a scooter. The accused, a 24-year-old, continued to drive dangerously and did not stop, even though the police had alerted him that the woman was lodged in one of his car’s tires. Shah admitted to the police during interrogation that he was “repenting” for his actions.
The accused was returning from a party when the incident happened early on Sunday in the south-central Mumbai neighborhood of Worli. Shah instantly left the scene of the incident in an autorickshaw, leaving his driver and his car behind.
The police said that after arriving at his female friend’s home in Goregaon, his sister drove him to their Borivali apartment. Shah then ran away to a resort in Shahapur, Thane district, with his friend and family.
