Lucknow: 18 people were killed and at least 19 were injured after a bus they were boarding rammed with another vehicle at Agra-Lucknow Expressway today. According to the state Police, three women and one child were among those killed in the accident Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao.
The Police confirmed that the accident happened when the double-decker sleeper bus with passengers on board collided with a milk tanker in Kotwali area of Unnao district. Sources reveal that the bus was traveling from Motihari in Bihar to Delhi on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway when the accident happened.
Prima facia, the District Magistrate Gaurang Rathis claimed that it looked like the bus was over-speeding. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath tweeted about the accident on X as he offered his condolences to the bereaved family. “I pray to Lord Shri Ram to give a place to the departed souls in his feet and provide speedy recovery to the injured”, he said in his tweet.
CM Adityanath has further directed officials to ensure proper treatment of the injured. All injured at Agra-Lucknow Expressway have been admitted to CHC Bangarmau for treatment and necessary action is being taken as bodies have been taken in custody, Behtamujawar Police.
