Raipur: The Chhattisgarh High Court has introduced changes to its roster, set to be effective from March 4. Under the new roster, Chief Justice and Justice Ravindra Kumar Agrawal will handle cases related to the Public Interest Litigation (PIL), Habeas Corpus petitions, writ petitions, contempt petitions, and all matters associated with the Division Bench’s writ jurisdiction. Similarly, other two Division Benches and 16 Single Benches have been assigned specific types of cases.

The adjustment in the roster aims to streamline the allocation of cases among judges based on their expertise and experience. This strategic distribution ensures that each bench is equipped to handle cases related to its designated area of focus, promoting efficiency and expertise in the adjudication process.

The primary Division Bench, led by the Chief Justice and Justice Agrawal, will play a pivotal role in addressing crucial matters like PILs, Habeas Corpus petitions, writs, contempt petitions, and all writ matters falling under the jurisdiction of the Division Bench. This approach enhances specialization and facilitates a focused approach to diverse legal issues.

Additionally, the restructuring extends to the other two Division Benches and 16 Single Benches, where specific types of cases have been assigned to ensure a systematic and specialized approach to adjudication. This targeted allocation is designed to optimize the judicial process, providing litigants with a more efficient and tailored resolution of their legal matters.

The periodic review and adjustment of court rosters are essential for maintaining an effective and responsive judicial system. By aligning cases with judges’ expertise, the Chhattisgarh High Court aims to enhance the quality and expediency of legal proceedings, ultimately contributing to the overall efficiency of the judicial process in the state.
