Amritsar: The operation of the second Vande Bharat Express, connecting Amritsar and Old Delhi, commenced today, offering a 457-kilometer journey completed in just over 5 hours. This new service significantly reduces travel time compared to other trains taking approximately 6 to 7 hours for the same distance. The Railways department has introduced alterations in the schedules of nearly 100 trains, primarily on the Delhi-Amritsar route due to the introduction of the Amritsar-Delhi Vande Bharat Express.
This express train departs from Amritsar at 8:05 AM and is scheduled to reach the Old Delhi station by early afternoon, at around 1:30 PM. Notably, it halts at five stations, with four of them located in Punjab. On its return journey, the train departs from Old Delhi at 3:15 PM, reaching Amritsar by 8:40 PM. The Vande Bharat Express operates every day of the week except for Fridays.
This train, numbered 22488 and 22487, running between Amritsar and Old Delhi, offers air-conditioned chair car tickets priced at ₹1340 and executive class tickets at ₹2375. For the Amritsar to Ambala Cantt stretch, the AC chair car fare is ₹810, and the executive class fare is ₹1510.
The train halts at key stations like Beas, Jalandhar City, Firozpur Cantt, Ludhiana, and Ambala Cantt Junction. It departs from Amritsar at 8:05 AM, stopping at Beas at 8:33 AM, Jalandhar City at 9:12 AM, Firozpur Cantt at 9:24 AM, Ludhiana at 9:56 AM, reaching Ambala Cantt Junction at 11:14 AM, and finally arriving at Old Delhi station at 1:30 PM.
