Raipur: The political landscape in Chhattisgarh is once again ablaze with controversy surrounding the Reservation Amendment Bill. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, in response to the Supreme Court’s comments on the Governors’ bills today, made a statement. In reaction, MP Sunil Soni stated that the Chief Minister did not want justice for the Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, or Other Backward Classes. Instead of discussing the bill with the Governor, he resorted to public statements, which Soni deemed disrespectful.
On the ongoing political saga related to the Reservation Amendment Bill, MP Sunil Soni expressed that the Chief Minister was not inclined to ensure justice for the Adivasi, SC, or OBC categories. The bill was passed with a majority, and there was no consultation with the Governor. Chhattisgarh stands as the first state with an Adivasi sister as the Governor, and the treatment meted out to her has been disgraceful, as per Soni.
The continuous finger-pointing at the Governor’s House is unacceptable. “I consider this insulting and a crime,” Soni stated. While the door for dialogue and discussion is always open, he disapproves of using public statements for such matters, deeming it embarrassing for Chhattisgarh, and people across the country are criticizing it.
Regarding the allegations on election officials, MP Sunil Soni emphasized the need for impartiality and advised officials always to conduct elections fairly. Governments come and go, and it’s essential to leave it to the people to decide which government they want. Soni urged officials to fulfill their impartial role on the 3rd.
He also commented on the economic conditions and the state government’s debts, stating that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has turned Chhattisgarh into a source of private income. Proper utilization of economic resources for development has not happened as it should. He emphasized that good planning could bring positive changes to people’s lives.
On the Governor’s remarks resembling those of great personalities, MP Sunil Soni remarked, “Bhupesh Baghel ji has become a victim of madness and is suffering from mental illness,” using inappropriate language. He criticized such distorted expressions in Hindi, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the dignity of the position. Concluding his statements, Soni called for officials to uphold their impartial roles and contribute to fair elections. He criticized the Chief Minister’s use of derogatory language, asserting that such expressions are regrettable and inexcusable.
