Jaipur: In the context of the upcoming elections in Rajasthan, the scrutiny of nomination papers for the 19 legislative assembly seats in the district has led to the exclusion of 35 candidates. These exclusions are primarily due to deficiencies in the proposed candidates’ nomination papers and a lack of party symbols.

Notably, among those disqualified is Dr. Prakash Keshwani, a senior professor at Jaipur’s SMS Medical College and a specialist in diabetes. Dr. Keshwani had filed his nomination as an independent candidate for the Adarsh Nagar constituency, but his papers were disqualified due to incomplete proposals and the absence of a ‘None of the Above’ (NOTA) option.

Out of the 254 candidates initially contesting for the 19 seats in Jaipur, 35 have been excluded, leaving 219 hopefuls with the opportunity to reapply until November 9th.

According to Prakash Rajpurohit, the Jaipur district election officer, the nomination process, which spanned seven days, saw 289 candidates submit their papers in Jaipur. The highest number of discrepancies was found in the Adarsh Nagar constituency, where 9 out of 31 candidates had incomplete or incorrect papers. Now, only 22 candidates remain in the running for this seat.

In the Sanganer legislative assembly area, 26 candidates had initially filed nominations, with six of them now disqualified. It’s worth noting that five constituencies – Jhotwara, Bagru, Malviya Nagar, Dudu, and Kotputli – have not witnessed any nominations being disqualified.

Consequently, the election landscape in these areas has been shaped by these exclusions and rejections, with candidates aiming to secure their place on the ballot in the upcoming Rajasthan elections.
