Raipur: With the assembly elections, in Chhattisgarh scheduled for November 7 and 17, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for their focus on communalism and religious conversion. During a speech in Bastar, Baghel expressed his dissatisfaction with how the BJP handles these issues.

Baghel firmly stated, “The BJP seems to concentrate on two subjects; communalism and religious conversion. They intentionally create divisions within communities of working for the betterment of the people. Their tactics revolve around sowing discord to gain votes. It’s unfortunate that their agenda is driven by hatred and violence.”

Taking a dig at former Chief Minister Raman Singh Baghel added, “Under Raman Singhs leadership this once flourishing land of Bastar has seen times…”

Amidst this exchange of words, there is an ongoing political tussle as Raman Singh commented on Bhupesh Baghel’s limited tenure as Chief Minister stating, “Priyanka Gandhi visited Chhattisgarh and announced a provision for cylinders at Rs 500. The Bhupesh Baghel government is aware that they are losing their hold, on power. They are making last minute announcements to salvage their position which holds no significance now. Bhupesh Baghels time as Chief Minister will be limited to 40 days.”

Chhattisgarh will be holding its elections in two phases on November 7 and 17. The vote count is scheduled for December 3 in all five states going to polls. The Model Code of Conduct has been implemented after the election dates were announced.

In the 2018 assembly polls, the Congress secured a resounding victory, claiming 68 out of 90 seats, surpassing the ruling BJP, which secured 15 seats.

In the political landscape of Chhattisgarh, the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party hold key roles, along with Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

In Telangana, a three-way contest is expected between the incumbent Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Congress, and the BJP. The BJP aims to seize power from the Congress-led state, setting the stage for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
