Tasked to chase 389, Rachin Ravindra powered the Kiwis to close down on the big target.

Australia amassed a massive total of 388 runs thanks to the returning Travis Head, who scored 109 runs, and his opening partner David Warner (81 runs). There were also handy contributions from Glen Maxwell (41), Josh Inglis (38) and skipper Pat Cummins (37) which helped Australians put up a formidable total at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Saturday.

New Zealand’s response was propped up by Rachin Ravindra, who scored a fighting century, and Daryl Mitchell (54 runs) before James Neesham battled in the dying overs to take New Zealand home.

New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips eventually ended Warner’s outstanding innings after he scored 81 runs off 65 balls. Phillips continued to make an impact as he dismissed Head for an impressive 109 off 67 balls. While New Zealand had been in terrific form, Australia had recently gained momentum, winning their last match with a commanding 309-run victory over the Netherlands. Still, the upcoming clash against the Black Caps promised to be a more formidable challenge. New Zealand had experienced their first setback in the tournament in their previous match, losing to India by four wickets.
