Raipur: The suspense surrounding the second list of candidates from the Congress party is soon to be resolved. On October 17, in a meeting of the Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) in New Delhi, discussions about the candidates’ names took place.
CM Baghel left for New Delhi on Monday to participate in the meeting. According to sources, there might be a risk to the tickets of several MLAs in the second list, while new faces may get an opportunity. The party sources suggest that Congress may field new candidates on the seats they lost.
On Tuesday, a meeting of Chhattisgarh leaders will also be held with members of the Central Election Committee, including Bhupesh Baghel, the state in-charge Kumari Selja, Central Election Committee member TS Baba, and State President Deepak Baij.
Meanwhile, CM Baghel who is confident of his win, wrote on X, “Now the scourge of expensive medicines is over. Trust intact, Congress government again”.
In this meeting, the final seal will be put on the second list of the Congress. According to party sources, the second list of the Congress may be issued between October 18 and 20. It is likely that the names of at least 40 candidates will be announced. The tickets of MLAs who have performed well are expected to be secure. It is worth mentioning that the first list of the Congress was released on October 15, after CEC met in New Delhi on October 12.
