Raipur: Today marks the birth anniversary of Rani Durgavati of the Gondwana Empire, and a wave of reverence sweeps across those who annually pay homage to her tomb. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel paid tribute to Rani Durgavati on this significant occasion. Rani Durgavati, born on October 5, 1524, to King Prithvi Singh Chandel of Kalinjar, ruled over the kingdom of Garhmandala, with Jabalpur as its heart.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed his respects with a tweet, saying, ‘Tributes to Rani Durgavati ji of the Gondwana Empire, a symbol of the unwavering determination and bravery of Indian women. After her husband’s passing, she skillfully and patiently managed and enriched her empire. She exhibited unwavering courage and valor, fighting until her last breath to safeguard the motherland.’

He added, ‘She sacrificed her life to uphold her self-respect and the honor of our motherland. Rani Durgavati Ji’s bravery and sacrifice have immortalized her and left an indelible mark.’

Arun Sao, the BJP state president, paid homage, saying, ‘She was the daughter of the Chandelas, the queen of Gondwane. She embodied Chandi, she was Ranchandi, she was Durgavati Bhavani. I bow to the immensely courageous Rani Durgavati ji on her birth anniversary, who laid down her life for the honour of our motherland, epitomizing unwavering courage and valour.
