Corona horror: Health Care Facilities Pushed to Edge After the Mortality Rate Shoots Up; Non Stop Cremations Reported

New Delhi: Indian mortality rate competes with the infection rate, as the Union Health Ministry reports 1,757 casualties owing to COVID. 2,56,828 infections were recorded in the last 24 hours. Out of these 20,24,629 are active cases.

Currently, the nation stands next to the US with a 1,53,14,714 caseload since the outbreak. The country’s recovery rate scrolled down to 86 percent, recording only 1,54,234 recuperations in a single day. A weak growth against the exponential infectious rate.

 The country’s total COVID-19 infections had surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19 after which it took 107 days to cross the 1.25 crore on April 5. However, it only took 15 days for the cases to cross the 1.50-crore mark. 

Maharashtra continues to record the rise in infections, while Delhi has announced a weekend lockdown. The state registered its highest death count per day so far. Kerala is directed to impose a night curfew from today amid the surge. The first state that witnessed the arrival of Coronavirus has restricted movements for two weeks as a means to curb the spread.

 Meanwhile, the Centre on Monday announced eligibility of citizens above 18 years of age from May 1, as it liberalized the vaccination drive to allow states, private hospitals, and industrial establishments to procure the doses directly from manufacturers.
