Chandigarh: On Saturday, at some places in Haryana, the farmers blocked the KMP Express highway to intensify their protest against the three farm laws. At 8 am, the blockade started which would continue for 24 hours.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha gave the call for the 24-hour blockade of the KMP expressway. The protesting farmers stated that the emergency vehicles will be allowed movement.

Navdeep Singh Virk, Additional Director General of Police(Law and Order) stated that they have made arrangements to maintain peace and order and to prevent any kind of violence. The affected districts like Sonipat, Panipat, Rohtak, Palwal, Faridabad, Gurgaon, and Jhajjar have planned the traffic diversions. The vehicles going towards Gurgaon and Jaipur can take National Highway-71A and travel via Gohana, Rohtak, and Rewari.

From September last year, thousands of farmers mainly from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh were camping at the border point of Delhi, Singhu, Tikri demanding a repeal of the three contentious farm laws enacted by the Centre. But the Centre says that they will not repeal the farm laws. They even said that the farm laws will free the farmers from middlemen and will give them the option to sell their crops.
