Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel demanded the central government to raise the vaccination bar to 18 years amidst the surge.
Bhupesh Baghel’s Twitter page tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and PMO in his tweet regarding this. His tweet read-” Now that the nation is combating against the second wave, we all think that the younger generation of the nation should also be prioritized to face the challenges. Therefore, it is necessary that the minimum age of vaccination is fixed at 18 years.”
Earlier, the Maharashtra government had also demanded the Central government to reduce the age of vaccination to 18 years, following which the Indian Medical Association also demanded the Central Government to increase the age of vaccination to 18 years.
India rolled out its vaccination drive on January 16. Since then, it has inoculated more than 88.3 million beneficiaries across the state. In the first phase, only health workers and frontline workers were allowed to get the Covid-19 jab. In the following phase, people above 60 years of age and people with comorbidities were allowed to be immunised.
