Corona Update: India records 1.25 lakh cases, Virus Shadow Looming over the Nation; Are we Out of Vaccines?

India: After the health ministry data reported 1.25 lakh across the nation in the past 24 hours; the state and the centre hit each other over the shortage of vaccines.

Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh formally approached the centre to deploy more vaccines, while Chhattisgarh and Orissa also presented their declining stocks. However, the Centre denied any shortage and claimed this as tactics of the state’s administration to overcome their failures in supplying the vaccine.

With Maharashtra continuing to register the spike, it recorded 59,707 cases. This has by far been the highest rise since the outbreak. India on the whole recorded 59,132 recuperations only alongside 684 mortalities. States like Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, UP, Delhi. MP, Gujarat, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Punjab report a surge in increasing order.

Aiming to curb the spread, several states have either imposed a complete lockdown or have levied night curfew. 10 districts of Odisha observed night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am. The Shivraj Singh government also imposed a night curfew across urban areas from today. The development came after its health bulletin recorded 4000 cases.  Additionally, the government has declared a complete lockdown on Sundays.

Bombay High Court, on the other hand, sought a response from the Centre for its petition on door-to-door vaccination policy for geriatric citizens who are wheelchair-bound or bedridden.
