Raipur: The coronavirus tally in Chhattisgarh crossed the 33,000-mark on Tuesday with the addition of over 1800 cases – the highest spurt in a single day, health officials said.

The case count now stands at 33,387, they said.

According to them, the death toll went up to 287 after 10 people succumbed to the infection in the last 24-hours.

Of them, three died in Raipur, two females were from Bilaspur, while one each male were from Durg, Sukma, Balrampur, janjgir-jhampa and Jashpur.

The highest number of 666 new positive cases were reported from Raipur, followed by 243 in Durg, 149 in Rajnandgaon, 104 in Bilaspur and 103 in Raigarh

Meanwhile, 578 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on Tuesday. Taking the total tally of recovered cases to 17,567.

The number of cases in Raipur, the worst-hit district in the state, rose by 666 to 12,000 and death toll to 150 in the district, the state health bulletin said.

Durg now has 3441 Covid-19 patients, of whom 35 have succumbed to the infection.

The case count in Rajnandgaon went up to 2,240.

At 6,500, Raipur has the highest number of active cases in the state, while Durg has 2,000 such cases.

Atleast 1 new coronavirus case was reported from all 28 districts in the state on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh has conducted 5,96,544 tests till 1st September after 14,004 tests samples were conducted in the last 24 hours.
