Raipur: While India’s coronavirus cases neared the 6.5 lakh mark on Friday to reach 6,48,315 cases, a total of 3,94,227 patients have also been declared to have recovered from the disease so far.
Chandigarh tops the list with 86% recovery rate, followed by Uttarakhand at 81.3%, Rajasthan at 80.2%, Chhattisgarh at 79.5 percent and Tripura at 78.6% against the national recovery rate of 60.52%.
Chhattisgarh’s management and health administration has been the pillar in combating COVID-19 with better recovery rates and lowest death rates compared to the neighboring states that accounts for Maharashtra with a recovery rate of 54.2 percent, 76.7 percent in Madhya Pradesh, 69.1 percent in Uttar Pradesh, 45.4 percent in Andhra Pradesh, 48.8 percent in Telangana, 72.9 percent in Odisha and 76.9 percent in Jharkhand.
The State’s recovery rate stands at 79.5 percent, At the national level, Chhattisgarh ranks fourth among the states with the best recovery rates.

2481 patients have been already discharged after treatment, mortality rate stands at just 0.5 percent, according to the health ministry data.
Even regarding mortality rate, Chhattisgarh is in a far better condition comparatively to it’s neighboring states. The mortality rate stands at just 0.5% compared to other states such as 4.4 percent in Maharashtra, 4.2 percent in Madhya Pradesh, 1.2 percent in Andhra Pradesh, 1.5 percent in Telangana, 0.5 percent in Odisha and 0.6 percent in Jharkhand.
In the month of February itself, Chhattisgarh’s management had initiated taking proper preventive measures and preparations for control for the possible spread of the pandemic.
Earlier, there was only one coronavirus screening facility i.e. AIIMS Raipur. Currently, there are in total 5 government labs where RT-PCR testing facility of covid19 has been made available in the district of Jagdalpur, Raigarh and Raipur. There is also a IRL Lab and private sector SRL Lab at Lalpur, Raipur.
So far, samples of about 1,77,554 people have been tested in the state. Out of which, 3065 turned out to be positive, the number of active patients in the state stands at 637 where as 14 people have succumbed to the virus.
Health Minister T.S. Singh deo said that “proper arrangements have been made to treat Covid-19 patients in eight regional and 22 district level hospitals of the state. In these hospitals, 3384 people can be treated. Additional arrangements include, 445 ICUs and 296 HDU (High Dependency Unit) beds. “
“Along with these hospitals, 146 covid care centers have also been set up where 8161 people can be accommodated.”
“An adequate number of N-95 masks, PPE kits, triple layer masks, VTM and essential medicines have been ensured in all COVID-19 hospitals.” He added further.
Considering the return of large number of migrant workers in the state, about 21 thousand quarantine centers have been set up in gram panchayats and urban bodies, which have total accommodation capacity of about seven lakh. Four and a half lakh workers who have returned to the state from various states have reached their homes safely after completing the quarantine period of 14 days. They have been given instructions to stay in home quarantine for ten more days, as an additional precautionary measure.
