New Delhi: A flood-like situation looms over Delhi as the water level of Yamuna River in the national capital again breached the evacuation mark of 206 meters with a peak level of 206.01 today morning. An update by CWC read that by 4PM today the water level will reach the level at which people have to be evacuated from low-lying neighborhoods close to the river.

Overflowing Ghaggar river in Haryana’s Panchkula due to heavy rainfall submerged several state highways in the state. The water level in Hathnikund barrage saw a rapid uptick on Saturday. Heavy rains lashed the holy city of Amritsar too as waterlogging restricted the pilgrims to visit the Golden Temple.

Monsoon fury for the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh has been the hardest in the past 75 years.  Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the state has incurred losses of around Rs. 8000 crores due to the rain-triggered flash floods. While the government is still trying to restore roads, electricity, and water supply, it has demanded the pending Rs. 315 crores of 2022-23 disaster from the union government.

Gujarat experienced a heavy rain pounding in several districts in the south and Saurashtra regions, triggering a flood-like situation in urban areas and isolating villages, amid rising water levels in dams and overflowing rivers. In Junagadh city, dozens of parked cars and cattle were swept away in gushing waters after it received 241mm of rainfall in 12 hours. This has been the worst floods city has witnessed in decades.

In Maharashtra, two Airforce helicopters were deployed to rescue 45 people stranded in Mahagaon taluka as they were stranded in floods amid heavy rainfall.
