Raipur: On the second day of the Chhattisgarh Vidhansabha Monsoon session, the opposition presented a no-confidence against the government. Assembly speaker Dr. Charan Das Mahant, while accepting the proposal has fixed two days for discussion.

This is the last assembly session of the present government before the election in Chhattisgarh. The ministers of the chief minister Bhupesh Baghel’s cabinet reshuffle stepped into the House with new responsibilities.

In the monsoon session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, a total of 4 meetings are expected to be held from July 18 to 21. The first day saw a tribute to departed leaders in the assembly. MLA Vidyartan Bhasin was paid tribute. Apart from this, BJP MLAs created an uproar as they asked questions about Forest Department and PHE Department.

Contrarily, the MLA of Narayanpur has drawn attention to the irregularities committed by the manager of Small Forest Produce Cooperative Society Baniyagaon of Chandan development block Bastar.

This Monsoon Session holds particular significance as it will replace the usual winter session, which has been foregone due to the upcoming assembly elections later this year. Consequently, the supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2023-24 will be a key focus during this session. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will present the proposal concerning the demand for this supplementary budget before the Assembly.

Several crucial bills are also on the agenda for this session. The Higher Education Minister is expected to introduce a Bill related to private universities, while Minister Ravindra Choubey will present the Chhattisgarh Legislature Member Redressal Amendment Bill 2023, and Revenue Minister Jaisingh Agarwal will table the Indian Stamp Bill 2023.

A total of 550 ministers will be subjected to 13 questions during this four-day session, allowing for discussions on pressing issues affecting the state.
